Planetary Value Chains: Empowering Communities to Combat Modern Slavery
14 June @ 9:00 - 9:20am EDT / 15:00 - 15:20 CEST
Saving our planet demands more than the obvious environmental action alone—it requires a commitment to combat modern slavery. Consider the impact of every choice you make, from buying a new iPhone to clothing, and even your dietary choices. When I realised that everything I touched had some link to modern slavery, I had to take action. Together we can take simple steps and be part of the solution. By the end of the session, you will be able to take change into your own hands. You'll be given a FREE app to help you report trafficking and give tips on how to navigate your organisation’s value chain to reduce modern slavery. With care, commitment, and determination, we can give someone back their freedom. Join me -- if you want to commit to saving both people and the planet in which we stand.
About the Speaker
Tracing back to my childhood days in Zimbabwe, where nature was my playground, curiously searching for bugs, rolling in the grass and making mud cakes. I was filled with the sense of freedom. Going back to africa, as an adult, I saw a lot of obvious poverty, the feeling of guilt and fear grew in me. How unfair it was that I had so much freedom, and so many didn't. Over the past decade, I've taken action. And as an Agile and Outdoor Acc. Coach, my passion for reconnecting people with nature has driven me to become an advocate for the planet. I volunteer with Stop the Traffik, a charity dedicated to combating human trafficking. I work to make trafficking visible and encourage others to take small steps to stop modern slavery. Through our workplaces, we can be part of the solution. Join me in empowering organisations to understand their value streams and make a difference.
